Midwest Mission Distribution Center

Welcome!

OUR MISSION:  The mission of the Midwest Mission Distribution Center is to compassionately help God's people in need locally, nationally, and around the world and to offer a center to fulfill the call for service to our neighbors in Christ's name.

OUR CAMPUS:  The MMDC is located on an eight-acre campus, 4 miles south of Springfield, Illinois.  Construction began in October 1999 and opened for ministry in March 2000.  Volunteers pack kits, sort items, sew school bags, hospital gowns, and blankets, and box goods for shipment in the CENTER.  The WAREHOUSES are used for storage, loading trucks and shipping containers, and unloading supplies.  Groups enjoy staying overnight in the DORMITORY that sleeps 32 and has a beautiful fully-equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, and community room.  RV CAMPING is available for those wishing to stay in their campers.  The PROJECT SCHOOLROOM CHAPEL building is large enough to have a small worship service or meeting. The second warehouse houses the WOODSHOP where school desks are made, as well as other woodworking projects.  The TWICE GIVING GIFT SHOP offers items made by craftsmen from developing countries, as well as some local craftsmen, and MMDC apparel.  It is open to the public from 11:00 am - 2:00 p.m Monday-Friday and the first Saturday of each month (except January).  In December 2002, the STAFF HOUSE was finished and currently houses the warehouse supervisor. A DUPLEX was finished in February 2005 for the Volunteer Coordinators to live in.  (The MMDC borrows no money and has no indebtedness.)  We invite you to stop by for a tour.

SHIPMENTS:  Disaster relief materials have been sent to people recovering from floods, fires, tornadoes, and hurricanes in the United States.  Humanitarian aid, medical, and educational goods have been shipped to Afghanistan, Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, India, Iraq, Jamaica, Liberia, Mexico, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Sierra Leone, Tajikistan, and Zimbabwe.  In the nine years that the MMDC has been open, over 1800 shipments/disbursements have been made.  OVER 129 TONS WERE SHIPPED/ DISBURSED IN 2008.

WHO CAN VOLUNTEER?  In 2008, 2208 individuals from 17 different states, representing over 550 different churches volunteered at the MMDC.  Volunteer hours for 2008 totaled 22,910 hours.  "Who can volunteer?"  Individuals, Couples, Families, Church Teams, Youth Groups (our minimum age to work on-site is 11 years old), and YOU!
